During the week of 11 September 2017, the IATF conducted a Stakeholder Conference in Oberursel Germany. The conference included representatives from the 43 Certification Bodies (CB’s) and five supplier representatives for each industry association in the IATF. AIAG also hosted a supplier feedback session in August, allowing approximately 40 additional industry stakeholders the opportunity to provide feedback to the IATF.

The Stakeholder Conference allowed CB’s and suppliers to provide the IATF with feedback to increase the likelihood of transitioning supplier QMS certifications to the IATF 16949:2016 standard by 14 September 2018. As a result of this conference, the IATF published nine Sanctioned Interpretations for IATF 16949:2016 on 13 October 2017 that include answers for Product Safety, Contingency Plans, Internal Auditor Competency, and Supplier Quality Management System Development.

Additionally, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for IATF 16949:2016 and the Rules 5th Edition were published on 27 October 2017.  IATF 16949 FAQ topics include Product Safety, Organizational Roles, Responsibilities, and Authorities, Statutory and Regulatory Conformity, and Nonconforming Product Disposition while Client Changes and Client Certification Agreements were discussed for Rules 5th.
