AIAG Expands Name of IMDS Conference

sustainability goals - blog

Sustainability is a huge part of the automotive industry today, and AIAG is on the pulse of it. That’s why it expanded the name of its biggest annual conference to include sustainability for 2024 and beyond.

The Hybrid IMDS, Product Compliance & Sustainability Conference will take place October 15–17, 2024, at Laurel Manor Banquet & Conference Center in Livonia, Michigan. The theme is "The Role of IMDS in Corporate Responsibility Due Diligence." Registration is now open for Days 1 and 2 of the conference. (Note: Separate pricing and registration for in-person training on Day 3 are required; stay tuned for more details.)

2023 was the first year that sustainability was prominently added to the IMDS Conference agenda, which was a huge success, and the conference will continue to focus more on sustainability year after year, says Lecedra Welch Jones, AIAG Program Manager, Environmental Sustainability.

“If you’re not doing your part to reduce carbon, it can cause you to lose business,” Jones says. “There will be presentations highlighting the auto industry’s carbon reduction efforts and requirements to help steer your company's future."

The 2024 Hybrid IMDS, Product Compliance, & Sustainability Conference agenda’s sustainability focus includes life cycle assessments, PCF, and table talks around sustainability. Catena-X, which set the rule book on how to do PCF in IMDS, is participating.

While all attendees will benefit from live presentations on the first two days, in-person attendees will also have the opportunity to network with industry leaders and peers, discuss the latest innovations with event sponsors and exhibitors, engage in "Table Talk" on trending topics during lunch, and of course participate in our end-of-event networking reception.

On Days 1 and 2, you’ll hear detailed presentations on Product Carbon Footprint and its connection to Data Quality, Electronic Reporting in IMDS, the EU Battery Regulation/Passport, and more, including:

  • Life Cycle Assessments
  • Mandatory Chemistry Manager Reporting
  • IMDS Release14.3 and 14.4 Updates (Along with What's Coming Next in Release 15.0)
  • In-Depth Information on TSCA and PFAS
  • Updates from the IMDS Steering Committee on ELV, REACH, and Other EU Legislation, Along with Potential Future Releases for IMDS

On Day 3, you’ll be able to choose from three in-person training sessions that are each about three hours long:

    • How and who to collect the data from and what's involved
  • IMDS Tips and Tricks for Basic and Advanced Users
