Congratulations, BorgWarner! In partnership with AIAG, BorgWarner has taken steps to educate their entire supply base on sustainability – an initiative Honda North America has recognized for its innovative approach. The project began with BorgWarner’s company-wide commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability. They felt their largest direct suppliers were already well versed in sustainability principles but wanted to ensure that all BorgWarner suppliers fully grasped the sustainability definitions and expectations laid out in their Global Supplier Manual.
With the understanding that thorough training would be key to getting 100 percent of their suppliers up to speed, BorgWarner teamed up with AIAG – a partnership that resulted in the development of a portal page specifically for BorgWarner’s suppliers, which now includes AIAG’s Supply Chain Sustainability e-learning and knowledge assessment.
A free online course, AIAG’s Supply Chain Sustainability e-learning was designed to help onboard employees who have been assigned to champion their company’s sustainability efforts. The course highlights the fundamental principles addressing human rights, environmental responsibility and business ethics. Relatedly, the Supply Chain Sustainability Knowledge Assessment is another free online tool for incoming employees who will be working in the sustainability space. The assessment overs topics pertaining to working conditions, environmental standards and business ethics.
These training tools – available to (and free for) AIAG members and non-members alike – allow BorgWarner to extend a zero cost training solution to their suppliers. On a larger, industry-wide scale, AIAG’s offering of these and other complimentary resources also facilitates greater access and utilization across the global supply chain.
