Steve Britt, senior manager — customs at FCA Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, leads customs and international trade functions with teams in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. He is responsible for all import and export operations and compliance activities as well as providing strategic direction for risk mitigation and duty optimization activities.

Britt is also a dedicated AIAG volunteer. In this interview with AIAG, he shares why being involved with AIAG is important to him and FCA.

AIAG: Why do you volunteer for AIAG? What are some of the personal benefits as well as benefits to your company?

StevenBrittBritt: Volunteering with AIAG gives me the chance to connect with others in the industry so we can work together to improve the processes that impact all of us. AIAG’s USMCA workgroup is a great example where I've met many people and have been able to appreciate their different views and learn from their expertise, all while we work collaboratively to create solutions that work for both OEMs and suppliers.

AIAG: Why is AIAG important to the industry?

Britt: AIAG plays an important role in helping to set standards for the industry. As a not-for-profit organization, its goal is to really bring stakeholders together and drive improvements and standardization that individual companies alone cannot achieve on their own. Having standards makes the processes for all involved more efficient and repeatable.

AIAG: What will your work for AIAG focus on next year? What are the priorities?

Britt: I will continue to support AIAG in both the Customs and Supply Chain areas through various workgroup and event participation. Additionally, I support my team members who play very active roles with AIAG in planning the annual Customs Townhall and serving as the FCA/AIAG liaison.
