Final Thoughts on the 2018 Quality Summit

We had an incredible Quality Summit in 2018! Over 350 industry professionals and leaders enjoyed an opening industry keynote address from Christoph Hagedorn, who joined us from Continental Corporation in Germany, prior to attending sessions that covered the Quality Core Tools, Industry 4.0 and IATF 16949. Additionally, summit attendees benefited from the overflowing exhibit hall of 32 product and service exhibitors, including six certification bodies and 19 software providers.

The IATF 16949 Transition Update, conducted by a panel from FCA-US, Ford and GM, provided an overview of critical quality tools and expectations from their supply base, as well as their statements regarding the IATF 16949 transition.

The IAOB updated our summit attendees on the IATF 16949 transition status, showing that 97% of transition audits were completed through August 2018. The IAOB returned on Day 2 of the event, hosting a packed session that addressed attendee questions on IATF 16949’s Sanctioned Interpretations (SIs) and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).

 Additional sessions included:

  • Five Caution Signs During Supplier Evaluation
  • 2D Serialization and Traceability
  • IMDS Beyond PPAP Requirements
  • IATF 16949 Transition and Sustainability Amid Organizational Change

Our closing keynote address was provided by Vince Poscente – a best-selling author, business consultant, and Olympic athlete. Vince’s 45-minute address captivated attendees, got them out of their chairs, and then – as we were laughing about trying to get 300 people turned in the same direction in ‘a tuck’ – brought home the life lesson that we cannot let the bumps in the mountain define who we are.

For those who missed out, we’ve included a few of our favorite photos below, and you can check out the full album on our Facebook page.  Also, don’t forget to save the date for next year! Mark your calendar for the 2019 Quality Summit October 2-3, 2019.
