8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  ACE Basics: Using ACE in Your Compliance Program Seminar
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has been building the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) for 10 years. Despite numerous advantages that are already operational in ACE, questions regarding its full implementation have persisted. Now that CBP has established November 1, 2015, as the date by which entries and entry summaries must be filed in ACE, there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel.

Expect to learn:

    • How to ensure your broker is ready for important upcoming dates

    • The current status of ACE and CBP's roadmap for completion

    • How to eliminate paper and use ACE for communications with CBP, APHIS, DCMA, CDC, EPA, FSMA, and other government agencies

    • How to modify ACE reports to find hidden data on your imports, as well as which reports you should run regularly 

This seminar will cover how importers and exporters can use existing and future ACE features to modernize their operations and lower costs.

All imported merchandise must be appraised for purposes of determining duty, taxes, and fees as well as for purpose of gathering economic data used by world governments to compile trade statistics. Importers are required to use reasonable care when reporting the proper valuation of merchandise to customs at the time of entry.

This seminar provides the basic concepts and terminology of customs valuation to aid importers and brokers in meeting their reasonable care obligations. Additionally, it provides information useful to buyers and finance staff in understanding how customs valuation can impact a company's bottom line.
