What parts of your car were made by Uyghur forced laborers?

If you have bought a car in the last five years, some of its parts were likely made by Uyghurs and others forced to work in China. The Chinese government has deliberately shifted raw materials mining and processing and auto parts manufacturing into the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR or Uyghur Region), essentially making international supply chains captive to repressive programs and systematic forced labor. 

WASHINGTON – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), will collaborate with 13 partner government agencies to deploy a Global Business Identifier (GBI) pilot program that will test the concept of a single business identifier solution to improve the US Government’s ability to efficiently identify high-risk shipments and facilitate legitimate trade.

Canada's proposed An Act to enact Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act and to Amend the Tariff Act ("Bill S-211"), which would require ESG reporting on forced labour and child labour in supply chains, has moved even closer to becoming law.

Led by both supply chain academics and industry professionals, this formal credential program provides attendees with an in-depth understanding of automotive supply chain topics via discussions, lectures, a company-specific project and presentation, tours, and other interactive elements.
