This is the Directive’s Article 24, the second paragraph of which states that the European Commission is to carry out a general review of the Directive by no later than 22 July 2021 and shall “present a report to the European Parliament and Council accompanied, if appropriate, by a legislative proposal.”

On December 23, President Biden signed the Uyghur Forced Labor Act. Under the act, all goods with a connection to China’s Xinjiang province are presumed to be made by forced labor, effective June 21. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will also be responsible to produce guidance for importers by the effective date.

Irrespective of mode, rates will be escalating, with carriers controlling capacity and exercising leverage like never before. Given the shortage of manpower and labor pools across the spectrum of global logistics, supply chain managers will be struggling.

The federal government has stopped two separate shipments of goods linked to forced labour from entering Canada — a move that has some advocates pleased but still pushing for more.

The course offers a winter session from February 10-May 12, 2022 (live virtual) and a winter session from September 1-December, 2022 (live virtual and face-to-face, if safe).
