Here’s how to improve your company’s materials management efficiency and supply chain effectiveness with seamless and affordable help from AIAG experts.

Nexteer Automotive, a full-service supplier of advanced steering and driveline systems, wanted to manage its performance with OEM customers in a more comprehensive manner. A global company that also offers in-house product development and full integration of hardware, software, and electronics, Nexteer’s Kimberly Hall says her company turned to AIAG customized training services for ideas.

“We decided to use the AIAG MMOG/LE training because of their reputation in assisting suppliers,” says Hall, who is supervisor of production control for Nexteer. “The training was excellent.”

Many OEMs are requiring their suppliers to use MMOG/LE to help mitigate supply chain risks. AIAG’s role is to help suppliers understand how to maximize the benefits of MMOG/LE for their company and their customers. The tool can be used by both supplier and customer throughout the entire product lifecycle, from early product development and pre-production phases through the post-production aftermarket/service phases.

“The training was very specific to us as a supplier and helped identify some of the critical areas that we should be measuring ourselves on,” says Hall. “The AIAG team worked with us to align our processes and documentation.”

One unexpected benefit, adds Hall, was “the opportunity to form a team to make Nexteer’s process more robust moving forward.”

AIAG’s customized training solutions help suppliers train their teams more cost effectively than ever. Sep. 9: Global MMOG/LE Level 1 Training
This course is designed to improve materials management efficiency and effectiveness in your supply chain by leveraging the Global Materials Management Operations Guideline Logistics Evaluation (MMOG/LE). MMOG/LE is the global standard for supply chain management processes that reduces costs from errors, waste, and workload for suppliers and customers.

Expect to learn best practices to complete the MMOG/LE assessment tool, identify gaps, and prepare action plans. The classroom setting allows participants to interact with the instructor, complete group exercises, and network with other users and OEM representatives. This course is designed for any tier-level supplier that wants to better understand MMOG/LE and benefit from its implementation.

MMOG/LE Version 4 provides Full and Basic versions that allow lower-tier suppliers to select the tool that best meets their needs. For classes held in Southfield, Michigan, registration includes an electronic copy of the Global Materials Management Operations Guideline/Logistics Evaluation (MMOG/LE Version 4).

MMOG/LE Version 4 Now Available
The purpose of the MMOG/LE Version 4 is to provide a single assessment tool that enables a comprehensive evaluation of MP&L performance and capability. The MMOG/LE tool helps organizations in the global automotive supply chain conduct a comprehensive evaluation of its supply chain capability and performance.

One of the major amendments incorporated into Version 4 is the development of MMOG/LE Basic, a filtered version of the Full MMOG/LE assessment used by the tiered supply base to assess their sub-suppliers.

The Full Version 4 contains 197 MMOG/LE criteria. The Basic Version 4 is a subset of the Full criteria within the same document, available through the use of filters.

This assessment tool can be used internally as a continuous improvement tool or externally as a company’s customers require. Note: When it is required, suppliers must verify with the customer whether the Full or Basic assessment should be used.

This tool is an Excel™ file and automatically calculates a company’s Global MMOG/LE score and features a gap analysis tool. Version 4 of the MMOG/LE assessment is only available in English. Each purchased download — one purchase per location site — will also contain PDF files translated into Chinese, French, German, Korean, Turkish, and Portuguese.
