The document, created by a cross-functional and multi-organizational work group, provides guidance to meeting IATF 16949 traceability requirements, presents a basis for traceability methods and technologies relevant to the automotive industry, and concludes with self-assessment and fire drill forms.  Additionally, best practices – and in some cases “bad practices” – are included to guide and inspire thought for organizations that are creating or evaluating their traceability systems. The self-assessment and fire drill forms, which will be available electronically with the final document release, allow organizations to document the status and effectiveness of their traceability system and highlight needed improvements. The [Traceability Guideline draft](https://www.aiag.org/store/publications/details?ProductCode=XO-CQI-28DRAFT) is available as a free purchase during stakeholder review as a viewable e-document only.\* A downloadable commenting sheet will also be provided with the purchase of the e-document for submitting feedback to [stakeholderreview@aiag.org](mailto:stakeholderreview@aiag.org). The stakeholder review period runs through October 17, 2018; all comments must be submitted by that date to be considered for inclusion.
