As the world strives to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, countries must recognize that pursuing a green and resilient recovery is critical to rebuilding economies and addressing social inequities. Meanwhile, the steps countries take in their recovery plans can also drive climate action as countries strengthen and implement their nationally determined contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.
A set of new WRI expert notes show how rebuilding from COVID-19 and setting and implementing more ambitious NDCs can and should go hand in hand. The series highlights how key sectors can build back better from COVID-19 and provide the building blocks for NDCs by embracing the benefits of a zero-carbon future. Note #2 addresses the transport sector.
