AIAG is pleased to announce that Steve Povenz has joined the organization as Vice President of Quality, effective Monday, January 26. Steve’s appointment further strengthens AIAG’s commitment to advancing quality excellence across the automotive industry.
AIAG also extends its sincere thanks to Harald Wilhelm, outgoing Vice President of Quality, for his leadership and contributions. Harald has played an important role in supporting AIAG’s quality initiatives and will continue to assist with a smooth transition through the end of February as he pursues a new opportunity.
Steve brings more than 20 years of experience in automotive manufacturing and supplier quality. Most recently, he served as Director of Quality for a leading Tier 1 supplier, where he led measurable improvements in customer satisfaction, operational performance, and global quality systems.
A familiar and trusted leader within the AIAG community, Steve has been actively involved in AIAG Quality work groups for many years, served on the AIAG Quality Steering Committee, and co-chaired the committee from 2022 to 2024. He has also been a featured speaker at AIAG Quality Summits and brings deep, hands-on experience with IATF 16949, supplier quality, and continuous improvement.
Steve’s background uniquely positions him to help AIAG continue delivering relevant, practical, and impactful quality programs that reflect real industry needs. His leadership will support members as they navigate increasing complexity, evolving regulatory expectations, and the continued advancement of automotive quality standards.
