Have you heard? AIAG’s Supply Chain Security Assessment, which is part of AIAG’s Supply Safe, makes it easier for automotive importers and their suppliers to comply with the federal government’s Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT).
In collaboration with several member companies, AIAG developed a shared database and risk/threat assessment system to be used by automotive importers and their supply chain partners to comply with CTPAT requirements. This includes the first common industry CTPAT questionnaire and associated corrective actions. Questionnaires are tailored for each type of supply chain partner including highway, rail, ocean carriers, customs brokers, freight forwarders, 3PLs, etc.
As a result of AIAG’s Supply Safe program, OEMs and their supply chain partners have a common process to request, complete, and evaluate supply chain security, and suppliers with multiple OEM customers only need to answer a single questionnaire. Additional benefits include, but are not limited to, AIAG’s first line system support capabilities, the availability of threat assessment information for all countries that can be evaluated by specific trade lanes, and reporting capabilities that can be used when conducting supplier security validations, and as material supplied to CBP to provide supporting supply chain security documentation.
Approved by the Department of Homeland Security and deemed a “best practice” by the CBP, AIAG’s system is available to both member and non-member companies. Current participants consist of the following organizations:
