As the only industry-endorsed training of its kind, AIAG’s new USMCA Content Reporting course was developed by a highly qualified group of volunteers from numerous OEMs, heavy truck manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers, along with guidance from trusted trade compliance experts.

Recently, AIAG had an opportunity to offer an automotive-industry perspective on human rights due diligence for a new report from Investor Advocates for Social Justice (IASJ).

Following the release of the AIAG & VDA FMEA Handbook on June 3, 2019, AIAG and VDA created an errata sheet to identify items in the original document that needed correction or clarification. While this errata sheet does not change the methodology itself, it does clear up wording on certain concepts, and identifies typing and formatting errors.

The new CQI-12 Special Process: Coating System Assessment was developed to help better evaluate quality systems at coating shops supplying OEM automotive coatings. Now in it’s third edition, the Coating System Assessment has been updated and revised for greater clarity, and to include the ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016 Quality Management System concepts, “process approach” and “risk management.”

As we continue to update and develop our Core Tools Support (CTS) software to improve the user experience, we’re excited to announce the addition of two new support features on our main CTS webpage, and a new task screen in the software itself!

AIAG is on track to kick off its new USMCA training course in August and has created a new webpage and webcast to provide key information for those interested in learning more.

The course is designed to help auto industry professionals get up to speed on the major changes they must navigate as part of the United States Mexico Canada Agreement. The USMCA replaces NAFTA and took effect July 1, 2020. The changes include new country of origin rules and what’s required for duty-free treatment under USMCA, new labor value content requirements, and redefined categories for automotive parts.

Originally published by AIAG and Odette, the “Key Performance Indicators for Global Materials Management and Logistics” guideline was intended to reduce confusion and unnecessary administrative work for suppliers by eliminating the need for each automotive company to create their own materials management and logistics KPIs.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has taken the next step to implement an important perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) requirement of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Under the updated regulation, certain PFAS have been added into the Code of Federal Regulations for the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI).
