Why do you think it’s important to come together at AIAG and participate in events or volunteer for other activities?

If one wants to stay current on quality standards, concepts and systems, it is very important to be aware of AIAG activities. Being a Toyota team member, I may bring a different perspective to events and allow others to understand more about Toyota.

How do you keep up on what’s new and happening in the industry?

To keep up with the industry, I frequently review quality websites for information and receive messages from organizations of their services and training. Change is constant and I try to ensure I am up to date on the latest quality concepts and trends.

Based on your years of automotive experience, what current or emerging trends do you think are most urgent for the industry to prepare for?

In my area of work, it is important to learn how to effectively confirm quality requirements are being met and how audits can be conducted in a virtual setting. The pandemic has caused us to find new efficient ways to operate. A new normal is being established and we must learn how to support our customers in this upcoming era.

What advice would you offer to those who are just starting out in the automotive industry?

I would advise those just starting out to secure a mentor to support their growth and development as they navigate through their career. I would also stress the importance of soft skills to allow one to influence those that they have no direct authority over to complete tasks.
