As part of AIAG’s ongoing efforts to enhance data exchange practices in the automotive industry, we are exploring the potential of standardizing application programming interfaces (APIs) to complement existing electronic data interchange (EDI) messaging. This survey is designed to assess the industry’s interest and readiness for adopting APIs as an additional tool to improve flexibility, speed, and scalability in supply chain communications.
Your input is essential in shaping the future of messaging standards for our industry. The survey consists of 16 multiple-choice questions and two open-ended questions, taking approximately 10–15 minutes to complete. At the end of the survey, you will have the option to indicate whether you would like to be contacted by AIAG regarding your responses.
The survey will be open from February 4, 2025, through February 25, 2025. If you are not the best person to complete this survey or if you know others in your organization or network who can provide valuable insights, we encourage you to share this link with them.
Please note: This research is not intended to replace EDI but rather to explore how APIs could serve as a complementary solution alongside existing EDI systems and processes. If there is sufficient interest in API adoption, AIAG may pursue efforts to develop standardized API structures that align with the needs of the automotive industry.
