The AIAG Quality Steering Committee (QSC) Welcomes Honda’s Rich Marshall

welcome display-blog

As project manager for Honda Development and Manufacturing of America, Rich Marshall has been a part of the Honda team for nearly two decades, including his current role in the Business Operations Department where he focuses on the organization’s quality documents and broader industry standardization initiatives.Along with impressive tenure at Honda, Rich has a long history of engaging with AIAG as well — “as a gateway to training” for the past 20+ years, and more recently, attending annual Quality Summits and planning to explore additional events and offerings.

Moving forward, as he takes on new challenges with the AIAG QSC, Rich is eager to focus on critical industry issues, including eliminating waste in the duplication of documents and procedures and reducing red tape for suppliers.

Why do you think it’s important to come together at AIAG and participate in events or volunteer for other activities?

Companies often guard their best practices to maintain an edge. However, by solely relying on internal knowledge, they risk missing out on the broader spectrum of global innovations. Organizations like AIAG offer a valuable platform for businesses to exchange select insights, fostering a collaborative environment where sharing does not necessarily equate to losing competitive advantages. This balance between competition and collaboration can lead to collective growth and the elevation of industry standards.

How do you keep up on what’s new in the automotive/mobility industry?

Historically I've been active with AIAG, SAE and Ohio State automotive project teams.

What current or emerging automotive/mobility trends do you think are most urgent to prepare for?

Adaptability is a critical skill that enhances personal and professional growth. The ability to pivot and embrace change can lead to innovative solutions and opportunities. Second, continuous learning and staying updated with technology and trends are essential for long-term success.

What advice would you offer those just starting out in automotive/mobility?

I highly recommend that those new to the automotive industry engage in activities beyond their company's scope. Such involvement offers a broader perspective, often unattainable within their immediate work environment, and significantly enhances one's professional value.
