usmca trade - blog

As the only industry-endorsed training of its kind, AIAG’s new USMCA Content Reporting course was developed by a highly qualified group of volunteers from numerous OEMs, heavy truck manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers, along with guidance from trusted trade compliance experts.

In total, this comprehensive two-day virtual training offers a full 16 hours of in-depth content – complete with various industry-relevant examples and exercises. Attendees at the practitioner and working manager level will benefit from an in-depth review of the new rules of origin, a step-by-step review of the process to qualify their goods as eligible, and much more, including:

  • An in-depth review of Origin Certification: Required data elements and industry-developed solicitation template.
  • A detailed discussion of specific terms, complete with examples (e.g., de minimis, intermediate goods, averaging, etc.).
  • A comprehensive presentation on the Core, Principal, and Complementary Tables for Passenger Vehicles and Light and Heavy Trucks, along with how to identify when to use the tables, and how to calculate regional value content.

Attendees will also receive the AIAG Supplier Content Reporting Requirements Workbook, which includes detailed qualification examples, and will serve as a handy future reference guide!

Here are a few testimonials from key contributors of the AIAG USMCA working group:

“Given AIAG's long history of supporting automotive suppliers with training on NAFTA and AALA, the new USMCA training that we have prepared offers a great opportunity for suppliers to continue this relationship with AIAG and hopefully paves the way for consistent application of the USMCA rules across the entire auto industry.” - Marc Sunday, L.C.B., Origin Manager, Ford Motor Company

“USMCA presents a new set of challenges for the industry. With the added complexity and raised expectations of OEMs, we all need to educate ourselves. AIAG's USMCA Content Reporting course is a fantastic resource to learn about the changes brought forth by USMCA and the new requirements everyone in the automotive supply chain must follow to ensure success.”  - Steve Britt, Senior Manager Customs - North America, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles

“Well presented! Excellent examples! The 2 days went very fast. A must for every supplier who qualifies their product under the USMCA.” - Karin Muller, Director, Trade Compliance & Governance, Magna International
