Since launching the new AIAG Core Tools Support™ (CTS) software, we’ve been busy collecting feedback, working on updates and making improvements. In light of this, AIAG held a CTS software update webinar on June 6^th, during which AIAG program manager John Cachat shared a short demo, and details on the software’s newest features – added in response to feedback from users around the globe – as well as upcoming functionality to support the new AIAG & VDA FMEA Handbook.

The Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) has launched a simple, time-efficient software tool to help suppliers comply with their customer’s quality requirements. While valuable to any automotive company, the AIAG Core Tools Support™ CTS) software is especially designed for parts manufacturers Tier 2 and smaller.

The AIAG Core Tool Software (CTS) Project is making great progress with the help of several dedicated volunteers. The project team is focused on improving the former XLS based Core Tools Software Disc with an “Excel like” front end supported by a robust database backend.

The Core Tools Self-Assessment was created by AIAG to better prepare automakers and suppliers to use the Core Tools processes (i.e. SPC, FMEA, MSA, APQP/PPAP). Understanding these processes is becoming a requirement for the industry and AIAG wants to make sure that you are prepared.

As of November 27, 2017, a free draft of the new co-copyrighted AIAG-VDA FMEA Handbook is available for a ninety (90) day stakeholder review and commenting period. 

In acknowledgment of the need to consistently maintain standardized processes across global supply chains, the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) has updated an essential quality resource to be more internationally inclusive.

AIAG recently announced the creation of a Core Tools Forms Software project. The second Voice of the Customer Survey was sent out, and the results show a strong international interest in a cloud-based application to complete several very technical forms related to product and process development (FMEA, Control Plan), measurement system capability evaluation (MSA), and product release (PPAP) that are part of the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.

We’ve all heard of the basic statistical terms: mean, median, and mode, but when it comes to Statistical Process Control things get a bit more complicated. This “Key Term Tuesday” we’re focusing on SPC.
